About the Company

We are a fast-growing proptech company operating across Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and New York, focused on luxury rental properties and end-to-end property management.

We are building a modern, scalable platform that sits at the center of real estate operations — connecting tenants, property managers, listings, and transactions into a unified system designed to scale internationally.

We are now looking for a founding-level engineering partner to join our technical leadership team and help shape the next stage of the company.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional senior engineering role.

We are hiring a Lead Full-Stack Engineer and right-hand to the CTO — someone who can operate at a high level of autonomy, think in systems, and help define the architecture, engineering culture, and technical direction of the platform.

You will be deeply involved in the hardest technical problems in the company and will play a key role in how the product evolves and scales.

This role is for someone who wants:

  • Real ownership of a core product and platform
  • A long-term stake in what they are building
  • Direct influence on technical and architectural decisions
  • The opportunity to grow into a broader technical leadership position over time

What You Will Do

You will work across the full stack and across the system — not just features.

  • Design and build scalable full-stack systems using React, Next.js, and backend technologies (Java, Python, or Node.js)
  • Own complex engineering problems end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, and long-term maintainability
  • Understand and reason about how multiple systems interact and how changes propagate across the platform
  • Make thoughtful architectural decisions with long-term scalability in mind
  • Help define engineering standards, patterns, and best practices
  • Act as a technical partner to leadership and step into CTO-level responsibilities when needed
  • Provide informal technical leadership and guidance to a small engineering team (4 developers)
  • Help shape the future architecture of a platform that is expected to scale internationally

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an exceptional engineer — someone who is operating closer to Staff-level thinking, even if their title is Senior.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience
  • Strong expertise in React, Next.js, and at least one backend stack (Java, Python, or Node.js)
  • Deep systems thinking and the ability to reason about complex, multi-component architectures
  • Strong intuition for software design, scalability, and maintainability
  • Proven ability to take ownership of ambiguous or complex technical problems
  • High attention to detail and strong execution discipline
  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate in a senior technical leadership context

We are especially interested in people who:

  • Prefer ownership over instruction
  • Think like builders and operators, not just implementers
  • Are motivated by impact, autonomy, and long-term value creation
  • Want to help build and scale a meaningful product from an early stage

Equity & Ownership

This is a founding-level opportunity with meaningful equity participation (ESOP).

We are looking for someone who is motivated not only by compensation, but by ownership in what they are building and long-term value creation.

The equity package is designed to reflect:

  • Early and meaningful contribution to core platform architecture
  • Ownership of critical systems that directly impact company growth
  • Long-term alignment with the success and scale of the business

This is a role where your technical decisions will directly influence the value of what you are building — and your upside will be aligned accordingly.

Location Requirement

  • Must be based in Vancouver or elsewhere in Canada
  • Must be willing to relocate to Vancouver if not currently based there

Compensation

  • Base salary up to ~$130,000 (depending on experience)
  • Meaningful ESOP / equity participation
  • Long-term growth opportunity tied to company scale

Timing

  • Ideal start: on or before August 1
  • September start possible for the right candidate

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage and help build the technical foundation of a company with international ambition.

You will:

  • Work directly with senior leadership as a core technical partner
  • Shape architecture and engineering direction from an early stage
  • Build systems that will scale beyond the current market
  • Have meaningful ownership in both product and company outcome
  • Be part of defining what the engineering organization becomes
